The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States is a flagrant, massive and systematic violation of the human rights of the Cuban people, denounced today in Geneva, Switzerland, Ines Maria Chapman, deputy Cuban prime minister.
During her speech at the High Level Event in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Chapman stated that in the current scenario of world crisis, the difficulties in her country are multiplying due to the criminal and illegal U.S. blockade.
The Cuban deputy prime minister said on X that while speaking at the event she also expressed her rejection of the current international economic order, for being unjust, exclusive and unsustainable.
It cannot guarantee the full enjoyment of all human rights for all people, she argued.
Chapman heads the Cuban delegation attending the meeting, which concludes Tuesday, organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The meeting included four thematic round tables and two sessions in which member states presented their commitments to continue promoting and protecting human rights.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris in 1948, reached its 75th anniversary on December 10.
This document enshrines the inalienable rights that every person has as a human being, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. (Source: ACN)
