On September 16, Holguín will celebrate World Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, under the theme “Global Action for a Cooler Planet,” which highlights the importance of uniting efforts to protect the ozone layer and address climate change through more sustainable and efficient cooling solutions.
This year’s message takes on special significance because of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, approved in 2016.
Kigali expanded the scope of the Montreal Protocol by promoting the progressive reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), gases with a high global warming potential.
