The province of Holguín will host the 13th National Social Work Congress, scheduled to take place from September 23 to 26, 2025, both in-person and virtually, under the theme "Strengthening intergenerational solidarity for the construction of healthy and sustainable environments."

Holguín is among the Cuban provinces where the largest number of fourth generation or 4G stations will be installed this year. Since it was tested last September, there are already 29 stations in service in the territory and it is expected to increase to 43 this year, explained Yovagnis Pérez Carmenate, head of the department of Mobile Telephony in the Territorial Division of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (Etecsa). The Expo Holguín 2023 Commercial Fair will be held April 4-7 at the Exhibition Center in this eastern city, with the participation of businessmen from Canada, Spain and Italy, as part of the strategy to promote exportable items.

With the theme "Ozone for life" Holguín marks today the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer with the implementation of various actions that contribute to the elimination of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) until the year 2030. The incorporation of technological packages to agriculture in Holguín is one of the objectives of the international project Ecovalor, focused on the economic valuation of the ecosystems of several Cuban provinces to promote sustainable development.
