The Popular Provincial Court of Havana held, between December 14th, 2021 and February 3rd, 2022, the oral and public trials corresponding to the six criminal cases for the events on July 11th and 12th of last year, at Esquina de Toyo, in Diez de Octubre municipality, and La Güinera, in Arroyo Naranjo municipality. These procedures were followed against 129 citizens, accused of committing and provoking serious disturbances and acts of vandalism, with the purpose of destabilizing public order, collective security, and citizen tranquility.
During the meeting of the Temporary Working Group for the prevention and control of the COVID epidemic, headed by the Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Second Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba José Ramón Machado Ventura and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, the Cuban deputy prime minister stressed that last week Cuba, recorded the third 7-day period of dismal results regarding positive COVID-19 cases, since the pandemic was declared nearly one year ago.
Cuba´s Chief Epidemiologist, Dr. Francisco Duran Garcia, announced that given the high percentage of vaccination achieved, authorities have decided to lift some measures to make it more flexible for travelers coming from other countries to visit the island.
