covid 19 cuba noticiasCuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday recalled the genocidal act by the U.S. government as it denied and hindered Cuba from acquiring medical oxygen in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cuban leader reaffirmed on Twitter that moment, which he describes as an act of genocide derived from the economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba, can never be forgotten.

On the second anniversary of that pandemic peak, aggravated by the lack of medical oxygen in hospitals, the Cuban president exemplified “the real and criminal nature of the U.S. blockade against Cuba”.

During those harsh days, the lack of medical oxygen increased the risk of death of hundreds of coronavirus-infected people nationwide.

Back then, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denied that the U.S. government offered humanitarian aid to Cuba in 2021.

“Obstacles have been set in the way of donations and efforts by solidarity groups, Cubans and organizations of the U.S. civil society, which have sent humanitarian aid,” the Rodríguez tweeted.

According to a Granma newspaper´s publication, it holds Washington directly responsible for the July 11-12 riots associated with the tightening of the blockade in the context of Covid-19.
