Mothers in Holguín, like Aimé Borges Romero, express deep gratitude for a program that delivers portable energy stations to bedridden children.
Her daughter Gretchen Lorena Rodríguez Borjas suffers from a degenerative disease of the central nervous system, requiring permanent use of a ventilation device, suction machine, and anti-decubitus mattress to maintain her quality of life.
In the Pedro Díaz Coello community, Borges Romero highlights the peace of mind this solar-powered system provides, essential amid fuel shortages and prolonged blackouts. Previously, she relied on a gasoline-powered generator that caused constant anxiety and urgent hospitalizations for Gretchen when power failed.
Arianni Barrera González, from the Hilda Torres neighborhood, also thanks the equipment provided for her two-year-old son Richard David García Barrera. He has Costello syndrome, a rare disease not diagnosed in Cuba since 2010, which limits his nutrition and growth, necessitating an electric cooker, blender, and refrigerator for his intensive care.
Fernando Hechavarría Pupo, director of Renewable Energy Sources at Holguín's Electric Company, reports that three portable stations were delivered: two in the provincial capital and one in Calixto García. Additionally, small stations were created in Cueto, Tacajó, and Velasco for children with disabilities needing 24-hour electricity.
Despite the tightening of the U.S. economic blockade, Cuba prioritizes the lives and peace of mind of these mothers, ensuring better quality of life for their vulnerable children through renewable energy. (Source: ACN)
