With his rapid-fire pistol, the Holguín athlete Leuris Pupo won the gold medal this Sunday at the XIX Pan American Games taking place in Santiago, Chile.

We already knew about the progression of the young rower Ana Laura Jiménez, but her three medals at the San Salvador-2023 Central American and Caribbean Games brought her to the forefront of the sport.

Due to the positive results of the season, 10 football players from Holguín have been included in the national preselections, which were recently summoned for international events involving the different categories.

Holguín’s Leuris Pupo, double Olympic medalist, heads the Cuban delegation that participates in the 53rd World Shooting Championship 2023 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he is accompanied by the current Pan American and Central Caribbean champion, Jorge Félix Álvarez, in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol.
