Holguín soccer player crowned champion in Guatemala

The Holguín soccer player Yasnier Matos won the 2026 Clausura tournament of the Guatemalan National League with CSD Municipal, after his team's victory over Xelajú in the final with an aggregate score of 6-2.
Municipal reached its third consecutive final and secured its 33rd title, surpassing Comunicaciones' 32 championships and taking first place in Guatemalan football history for the most national titles.
Matos, who played as a winger and full-back, scored three goals during the 2026 Clausura. He also took 20 shots, seven of them on target, in 20 matches played.
The player also achieved a 76 percent passing accuracy and accumulated 11 key passes throughout the tournament. In the playoff stage, he participated in four matches with the red team, which closed the season with the national title.
With this championship, Yasnier Matos continues to solidify his position as one of the Cuban footballers with the best results in Central American football. His versatility on the field, his ability to beat defenders, and his contributions both offensively and defensively were important elements within his club's system.
