Holguín rower Ana Laura Jiménez will soon participate in the qualifying event for the upcoming Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, which will take place from October 15 to 19.
The Cuban delegation will seek to secure its presence in the 13 modalities, and the main objective is to achieve qualification in all events, said Ángel Luis García, president of the Cuban Rowing Federation.
The technical team is composed of coaches Joan Manuel Paula, Nelson Simón, and Vladimir Reyes.
The women's team includes Ana Laura Jiménez, Nataly Morales, Leah Almeida, Lisandra Verdecia, Loraidis Echavarría, Anyel Galindo, and Rayma Ortiz. All have the experience and training to face the demanding regional competition.
The men's team, led by captain Roberto Carlos Paz Sánchez, also includes Leudar Suárez, Henry Joan Heredia, Adel Gutiérrez, Pedro González, Reidy Cardona, and Francisco Romero.
The event will bring together delegations from Centro Caribe Sports member countries, including Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala, and Cuba.
Ana Laura didn't have her best results at the Junior Pan American Games, held in August in Paraguay, where she finished behind in almost every competition.
Jiménez will seek qualification to retain her medals at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador.
