Cuban Arlenis Sierra figures as leader of the iconic multinational road cycling team Movistar Team for the Vuelta a Andalucía, a race that takes place from today until next Thursday as part of the disputed world circuit.

"A very pleasant addition to the increasingly rich Spanish women's professional calendar is the arrival of the Vuelta a Andalucía," announced Movistar, one of the top three clubs in road cycling, on its official website.

Despite its atypical format - over three working days - this new Ruta del Sol offers a more than interesting and colorful route, from east to west, with opportunities for all types of riders, the statement added.

Competing for an optimal Sierra result will be a lineup composed of Colombian Paula Patiño, Spaniard Sara Martín, Serbian Jelena Erić, Norwegian Katrine Aalerud and Australian Sarah Gigante.

Winding, irregular, coastal and mountainous sections will characterize the race, an opportunity for the blue team to demonstrate once again its integrality, this time under the command of Sierra, 29 years old manzanillera, multiple Pan American champion and in lides in Europe and Australia and fifth in 2021 in the World Championship.

Movistar revealed to participate with all the motivation in a three-week campaign on the roads of Spain, country where the squad is based, full of cyclists among the best in the world, as the Cuban; the Dutch Olympic and world champion Annemiek van Vleuten, leader in recent years of the world ranking, and the powerful Danish Emma Norsgaard.
