The World Health Day will be celebrated on April 7 in the province of Holguín under the motto “Mi Salud, mi derecho” (My Health, my right), a right achieved in Cuba more than 60 decades ago.

Since 1950, the date was chosen to commemorate the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO), established in 1946 by 61 members of the United Nations, and since then this anniversary has been celebrated every year, always with a slogan to highlight that all people must have access to quality health services.

This year’s slogan My Health, my right, reaffirms that objective, which in Cuba has full support, protected by Article 72 of the Constitution of the Republic.

It states that “Public health is a right of all people and it is the responsibility of the State to guarantee access, free and quality care, protection and recovery services.”

"The state, to make this right effective, establishes a health system at all levels accessible to the population and develops prevention and education programs, in which society and families contribute."

With a view to this celebration, a program of activities is being developed in Holguín aimed at promoting the participation of the general population in search of health and a better quality of life.

For this reason, from April 1 to April 7, this sector develops together with INDER, a sports-recreational festival of walks/runs in the main streets of the province, marathons and Taichi exhibitions, in squares, parks and avenues, among other initiatives, in favor of the well-being of Holguín residents.
