Holguin marks the 12th National Day against Homophobia and Transphobia from May 6 to 18, an initiative created in 2008 by the National Center for Sexual Education (CENESEX).

With the motto “All rights for all people,” the day is part of the CENESEX campaign Reescribe la felicidad (Rewrite the happiness) taking place this year in the country.

The campaign aims at contributing to the development of comprehensive education of sexuality and the recognition and guarantee of sexual rights of all people without distinction.

Holguin has planned an extensive program of activities in order to fight discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, which includes the event EnRedes, a space for dialogue between activists of different social network communities.

The Holguin universities are also the venue of the event with the film festival Luces, Camara, Diversidad. In addition, panels are held with the participation of leaders from the University Student Federation.

The cultural space Palabras Compartidas organized by the AHS at the Café del Arte Joven will open for dialogue with book presentations, poetry reading, exchange with artists and the presentation of testimonies about individual experiences.

The cabaret Nocturno will host the gala against homophobia and transphobia on the night of May 16, but, although the day is limited, actions will continue throughout the year in order to guarantee all rights for all people.
