The Holguin's radio station Radio Angulo and the local newspaper ¡ahora! received the Casa de Iberoamerica Distinction, which was awarded by that cultural institution in homage to the Cuban Press Day.
The Iberoamerican Center, which promotes cultural exchange, dialogue and solidarity, dedicated recognition to these media for their sustained and systematic work in promoting the different spaces and events promoted by the center.
"Without the media, we could not do most of the things that we do here. We have no more presence in the media because we have to do much more to deserve it, " said Eduardo Ávila Rumayor, director of the Center, who highlighted the link of these media with all processes and projects of the institution, a work materialized in the Ibero-American Culture Festival, held each year in Holguin.
The directors of the distinguished organizations highlighted the work carried out by the Iberoamerican Center in the cultural development of the eastern Cuban territory and the promotion of researches on Latin American reality.
Casa de Iberoamérica Distinction has been granted to several institutions and personalities who have contributed, in one way and another, to the work of the center, such as the Che Guevara Study Center, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and the University of Holguin.
