Holguin Prioritizes Social Benefits for Senior Citizens

Restoration and maintenance of health centers that benefit senior citizens in the northeastern Cuabn province of Holguin are part of the priorities aimed at improving the quality of life of that sector of the population.
 
The specialist of the maintenance section and engineering system of the Provincial Office, Yunitza Almaguer told ACN that the projects include senior homes in the eastern province where over 180 thousand people over 60 years of age live.
 
She highlighted that the benefited centers will be rest homes in Mir, San Andres and Felton in the municipalities of Calixto Garcia, Holguin and Mayari, respectively.
 
Almaguer pointed out that the main reforms include painting, reparation of exterior and interior areas, replacement of furniture among others offering better quality and comfort to the institutions.
 
The attention program to senior citizens in Cuba began in 1974 and it is divided in community, institutional and hospital assistance, destined to satisfy the psychological, medical and socio-economic needs of the elderly.
 
These actions is in compliance with Guideline 103, approved by the 7th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party which regulates the implementation of strategies in all social sectors to confront the high rate the aging of the population. / Radio Angulo
