The Bloguerías de Mayo event, to take place in Holguín on May 5th and 6th as part of the Romerías de Mayo festival, will focus its panels on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in contemporary journalism and its impact on cultural industries.
The event brings together journalists, communicators, researchers, and social media specialists, with participation from institutions such as the University of Holguín, the Cuban News Agency (ACN), Joven Club, Ideas Multimedios, the Ministry of Culture, and the Hermanos Saíz Association.
Luis Ernesto Ruiz Martínez, organizer of the Bloguerías, highlighted to ACN the importance of the Bloguerías as a timely opportunity for exchange and debate among communications specialists from across the country, who return each year to the event's headquarters at the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library to promote the media work of the World Festival of Artistic Youth.
Ruiz Martínez said that during the sessions, the Romerías News broadcast will also be aired, serving as an educational and audiovisual development platform for professionals and students.
He highlighted the importance of this newscast in past editions, produced by professionals from the Agency, Ideas Multimedio, and journalism students, among others, which has become a teaching space par excellence, guaranteeing a development platform for audiovisual management and production.
The program includes two main panels: the first, on May 5th, titled “Artificial Intelligence as an Ally of Contemporary Journalism,” coordinated by Dailén Vega Mugercia; and the second, on May 6th, on “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Cultural Industries,” moderated by Yani Martínez Peña and Juan Pablo Carreras.
The Bloguerías de Mayo are part of a broader cultural program that includes other events dedicated to visual arts, audiovisual production, literature promotion, and support for art instructors and amateur artists, all under the premise of combining tradition and modernity to defend cultural identity values.
