First speech by Commander in Chief recalled in Holguín

Holguín commemorated the 65th anniversary of the first speech by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro to the people of this eastern city, which was given from the balcony of La Periquera Museum on February 26, 1959.
“Today we remember this event, which filled the people of Holguín with optimism”, expressed Elisbel Durán Borroto, highest representative of the Provincial Committee of the UJC in the province and urged to continue building a better youth.
In the presence of Ventura Carballido Pupo, a veteran combatant who led young people from the Holguín Military Region in February '59, the professor Iván Hernández highlighted the school network of the territory “that responds to all teaching levels, after more than six decades. The army of teachers will not fail the Fidel’s legacy”.
Dr. Yanet Pupo, member of Parliament, highlighted the territorial health system, “which is consolidated, with various institutions even in the most distant places in our geography.”
The ceremony, presided over by the first secretary of the Party in the province Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez and Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor, included the awarding of the El Hombre de Caguairán youth seminar, which included 35 presentations referring to the life and revolutionary career of the Commander in Chief.
