The highest authorities of Holguín arrived in the productive pole of Limoncito, one of the main agricultural areas of this eastern province, to check the execution of the investment project carried out here.
Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín and Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor of the province, were informed in detail by the authorities and farmers of the place about the work process and investments.
To date, Limoncito has a total of 524 hectares (ha), of which 167.6 ha are in exploitation and 203.4 ha are in preparation for use. Currently, the pole has several limitations for work such as the delay in irrigation investment and leaks of the conductors, among others, which prevent the satisfactory work of the 47 usufructuaries.
At the end of the spring campaign, cassava, plantain, pumpkin, melon and corn were planted in this fertile land of the municipality of “Urbano Noris”. The planting plan included a total of 245.5 hectares and only 176 hectares could be harvested for 72%. For the recently started cold season, it is planned the use of 308 hectares for planting root vegetables, vegetables and grains.
In the meeting, the methodology was presented to emulate among the productive poles of the province during the campaign to achieve the results expected. The sowing of crops benefited by irrigation machines, production - contracting, multiplication of seeds, marketing of exportable items and sales to tourism, among others, are among the parameters established.
