The José de La Luz y Caballero branch of the University of Holguín, hosted a gala in homage to Cuba's friend, Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, on March 3, on the tenth anniversary of his physical disappearance, to be commemorated on March 5.

Students of the university institution, professors and instructors, highlighted the role of the Venezuelan guide in the social causes of the continent, and the fraternal friendship that he maintained with the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

“Chávez's is a legacy that continues to be planted in the minds and hearts of the peoples who continue to fight for freedom and sovereignty, similar to that of Commander Fidel. To commemorate Chávez is to commemorate Fidel," said the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Cuba, Adán Chávez Frías, in an audiovisual message sent for the occasion.

Friday’s agenda includes workshops on the subject, with the participation of students from different teaching levels.

The activities to commemorate the imprint of the Venezuelan leader will extend until Sunday throughout the Holguín geography, according to Lupe Isabel Fernández Rodríguez, provincial delegate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (Icap) in this province.
