The third edition of the book “Fidel Castro. Como una espada reluciente” was presented on Thursday at La Periquera Provincial Museum, as part of the activities dedicated by the people of Holguín each November 25 to remember the thought and imprint of the leader of the Cuban Revolution at five years of his physical disappearance.

Under the seal of Ediciones La Luz publishing house, of the Hermanos Saiz Association, the volume is a compilation made by journalists and writers María Julia Guerra and Rubén Rodríguez, which reflects Fidel's passage through the province of Holguín between 1958 and 2006 with a chronology of speeches delivered by the Cuban leader in the northeastern territory as well as photographs and journalistic materials published in the local newspaper ¡ahora!

Rubén Rodríguez referred the enrichment of this text during each of its editions both with correction details and the inclusion in its pages of the posthumous tribute paid by the people of this eastern city to their commander in those sad days of November 2016.

He recalled the vicissitudes of the editorial process of the volume that took about 10 years to be published and that has as an added value the fact that the image on its cover is an oil painting by the renowned artist Cosme Proenza.

He commented that beyond the successful sale of the book, his great reward is in having contributed to the rescue and construction of the testimony of an era and of a transcendental figure like Fidel, which is ultimately the mission of journalism.
The historian Alexander Abreu, professor at the University of Holguín, referred to the complexity of the work of the compilers, who ensured thematic coherence seen from three basic concepts: time, movement and space in a selection that shows the usefulness and scope of thought of the commander-in-chief in interventions on the Holguín industry, the tourist pole when he inaugurated the Playa Pesquero hotel or high-impact educational centers such as the IPVCE José Martí.

Norge Luis Labrada, vice-president of the AHS in the province of Holguín gave the museum director a copy of this third edition of the text to be kept in the Revolution hall as a reference for Holguín and foreign visitors.
