Holguin: Minister of Transport Checks Works in Progress

Photos: Elder LeyvaA new control tower, scheduled to be completed this year, and the recovery of the runway were the main investments at the Frank País international airport checked by Adel Yzquierdo, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of Transport, who visited the Province of Holguin.
Accompanied by the highest political and governmental authorities of the eastern territory, Yzquierdo pointed out issues such as the quality of services, the use of fuel, the availability of water and electricity, food supply, the functioning of the General Customs Office of the Republic and the capacity for monetary exchange, among others.
The vice-president of the Council of Ministers checked the works carried out in the railway access to warehouse 651, for a value of more than two million pesos, which are about 60 percent of execution.
The route, of 1.4 kilometers, will allow downloading boxes at any time and reducing the frequency of the deposit cycle, thus decreasing the use of the vehicle fleet and therefore the fuel expense.
About 10 kilometers of the expansion of the Central Highway, of a total of 20 km, have been completed so far. The Minister was also informed of the actions being carried out there for paving, construction of drainage channels, sewage system, speed bumps and curbs.
Yzquierdo also visited the Trucking Company (Emcarga), where he checked the Chinese engines adapted to International trucks.
He also toured the national bus terminal Santiago-Havana, the Comprehensive Automotive Service Company (EISA) and a branch of the School Transportation Company.
