Investments in Holguín, a way of ordering and progress

These processes are born from the diagnoses to determine the planning plans in which the problems of each territory are identified.
These plans are directed by the Provincial Directorate of Physical Planning. Its director, Yoandris Almarales Torres, explained that these plans allow designing the strategic lines to solve these problems and propose the investments.
“The province of Holguín has one of the largest investment projects in the country in prioritized sectors, including tourism that, despite the difficulties with resources, managed to build a hotel in Guardalavaca, one in Antilla and the Saratoga, in the main municipality.
“The investment process did not stop here and, based on the potential of the province, there are projections of around 67 thousand rooms distributed in the main destinations, those already existing and those under construction, such as the Ramón de Antilla where the first hotel will be inaugurated soon,” Almarales Torres said.
The Department of Investments, of the Provincial Directorate of Physical Planning, issue the permits for the different stages of the investment process.
Lisbeth Peralta Bruzón, head of the Department said that they intervene in the management of the one-stop shop that manages the needs of legal persons in terms of permits related to investments. This mechanism has been operating since 2014.
On the other hand, Almarales Torres also explained that “there are other sectors prioritized for investments such as the nickel industry and the housing program, which is based on a policy framed in 10 years. The province complied with it in the first and second years in the different modalities: state plan, basic units and by its own effort, although in the case of Holguín the latter surpasses the others and that is not what is wanted. State housing is the one that must solve the problem for those who have the greatest difficulties and that is why the plan is designed for.”
“The policy foresees an increase in housing every year. Conditions such as the local production of materials must be created, a program in which each municipality must be able to generate the resources to build a house per day," he added.
