Artex in Holguín ready to start export services

Photo: By the authorThe Artistic and Literary Promotions Company (Artex) in Holguín began this Monday the meetings to advise both the business sector and non-state management forms interested in exporting their products and services through “Soy Cubano” agency with more than 30 years of experience in the field.
Rafael Cristo, specialist in the department of communication, marketing, image and development of the Holguín branch, said that Artex is one of the 36 Cuban companies approved to start this activity, which has in Holguín one of the territories with the greatest potential in the variety and quality of its productions and noted that in a first stage it will only start with exports until the conditions are created to also import raw materials.
He explained that Artex will be the recipient of all the documentation of the different forms of non-state management and companies interested in getting involved in the process, for which a file will be created with data that includes the corporate purpose of the activity it develops, taxpayer registration and bank account in Freely Convertible Currency; once this information is completed, it will be sent to the export committee of Soy Cubano in Havana for its corresponding analysis and approval.
Hilda Santiesteban, director of the Chamber of Commerce in the northeastern province, highlighted the importance of the meetings to respond to all concerns and achieve the necessary rapprochement between the business sector and non-state management forms to benefit of the Cuban economy.
She noted the importance of actors involved in developing the process of registration and protection of their brand, essential for the exhibit of products abroad as well as the acquisition of the Certificate of Origin Cuba, a document issued by the Chamber of Commerce taking into account an affidavit where it is evidenced that all or a large part of the components of the product originate in Cuba and that it allows the payment of a lower tariff in other countries, which can even be "zero tariff."
Santiesteban insisted that even when the importing and exporting entity is in charge of carrying out commercial operations, it is good that there is no disengagement from the process by the self-employed, who should make every effort to study elements such as the price formation of their products considering the international market and also suggested to detail the description of their offers since the company will have more possibilities in the search for potential clients.
Wilfredo Chacón, a self-employed worker in the integral construction service modality, was interested in knowing if the company would be in charge of mediating in the relationship with clients self-managed by them or only in the search for new clients and how this communication would be established.
Beatriz García, commercial manager of Artex in Holguín, indicated that the entity would establish commercial relations in both ways and added that if there’s a person already interested in that product, it would be much easier and faster to carry out the export and added that the conversations will be held online although Soy Cubano has representative offices in various nations such as Mexico, Spain and Canada.
Álvaro Hernández, an independent artist, considered that it is difficult to think about exporting when he does not have access to freely convertible currency that allows him to buy the materials that he needs to import as a guarantee for his productions.
Certainly we are taking the first steps in this regard and there are questions that today do not have an answer but will have one as the negotiations progress and the economy is oxygenated, said Jorge Otero, general manager of the Holguín branch and added that it is the responsibility of the entrepreneurs open their minds and be more proactive as the new times demand.
