Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, said today in his regular press conference that the country accumulates 351,663 PCR tests carried out in molecular biology laboratories throughout the country.
On the day, meanwhile, a deceased was reported, which rose to 89 the death toll since the pandemic began, for a 2.46% mortality rate.
Durán specified that there are currently 12 active transmission events, 7 of them in Havana, three in Artemisa, one in Villa Clara and one in Pinar del Río, which means that the incidence rate of diagnosed per 100,000 inhabitants of the country is high.
Of the 17 diagnosed the day before, 12 are Cubans and five are foreigners, 10 of them women and seven men. Ten were contacts of previously confirmed cases, two did not specify the source of infection and four got infected abroad, while 10 were asymptomatic.
For clinical-epidemiological surveillance 1,136 people are admitted in hospitals, 554 are in the category of suspected cases, while 540 are active patients, of them 527 with a stable clinical evolution, explained the doctor.
When the first case of contagion with SARS-Cov2 was announced on March 11, Cuba began a government and health plan to stop its spread of disease, but since the end of July there has been an increase in confirmed, specially in Havana.
Durán insisted on the complexity of the disease due to its rapid transmission and therefore high risk for all people, hence the repeated call for responsible behavior in compliance with isolation, protection and epidemiological surveillance measures. /PL
