Protection actions to prevent the expansion of COVID-19 in Holguín these days focus on the entry of travelers to the province, mainly those who arrive from Havana, who must comply with the medical protocol established to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus SARS-COV 2.

Dr. Katia Ochoa, provincial director of Health, highlighted as one of the mandatory indicators the performance of tests to people who enter Holguín territory through the entry point located in the municipality of Calixto García, in western Holguín.

Ochoa highlighted the importance of this measure as one of the ways to avoid the appearance of new cases of COVID-19 in Holguín, a province that has remained for more than three months without registering autochthonous events of the pandemic, except for the last days ago report of a patient from the municipality of Moa, who came from Artemisa.

In meeting of the Provincial Defense Council on Monday, the specialist reported that the 15 contacts of this case were negative to the test and that the patient maintains a stable evolution after medical treatments.

She noted that epidemiological surveillance focuses more insistently on travelers entering from the Cuban capital because it is the province where the highest growth of positive cases of COVID-19 is reported daily in the country.

The measures should not only focus on the rapid tests when entering the travelers' checkpoint in Calixto García, but also on the fulfillment of the remaining indications included in the health protocol, such as the use of the nasobuco, washing hands with hypochlorite and maintaining physical distancing within the crowds, she added.
