Holguín implements experiences of COVID-19 for the control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito

The timely identification of cases and contacts as part of the protocols of the Health system in the confrontation with Covid-19, are also applied in the province of Holguín as part of hygienic-sanitary measures to contribute to better control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito that during these months expands within the eastern territory.
 
Dr. Yanelis Calviño, head of the command post in the Public Health Directorate in Holguín, said to the ACN that the sanitation measures implemented in the country to fight the new coronavirus, are currently inserted into the community program to simultaneously counter the infestation rates of the vector, transmitter of dengue, zika and chikungunya.

She noted that health actions against the infectious mosquito are now promoted with the required rigor through the application of adulticide treatment cycles, mainly in urban areas of the different municipalities.

The actions implemented to fight against arboviruses, include the active community research, with positive results in the survey of patients with respiratory symptoms, which will have with the participation of more than four thousand medical students, she explained.

Calviño stressed the need to cover the water tanks, the elimination of micro-dumps and the cleaning of patios as another way to help reduce the high rates of infestation, whose greatest incidences are registered in the municipalities of Banes, Mayarí, Urbano Noris and the city of Holguín.

Health promotion activities such as conferences and educational talks are also carried out in more than 700 blocks with risk of focality, distributed throughout the eastern province, she reported.
