Holguin increases actions to prevent COVID-19

Photo: By the author.At a time when the number of people infected with COVID-19 grows, mainly in the American region, Holguin increases monitoring actions in the fourteen municipalities, as part of the plan of prevention and confrontation against the new coronavirus in Cuba.
During a video conference meeting with authorities in the territory, Dr. Katia Ochoa, provincial director of Public Health, explained the comprehensive plan that involves all agencies in which the role of the health system is key for surveillance and research, mainly in airports and ports.
She pointed out that all entities and organizations must unite efforts to prevent the introduction and spread of the virus, which affects 105 countries including China, with more than 109 thousand 575 cases worldwide and 3 thousand 809 deaths confirmed.
For this reason and the morbidity of this new virus, it is necessary to strictly comply with the planned measures, in which the people must be given wide participation, so that they know what to do and how to proceed in each case.
Participants in the meeting presented the training program for health professionals and other organizations, the work of the Tourism system of the province in order to prepare their workers, mainly those linked to customer service, such as waitresses and tour guides, and how health control and surveillance should be carried out on foreigners entering the country, but also on Cubans returning from a trip.
In his closing words, Ernesto Santiesteban, first secretary of the Communist Party in the province, pointed out that the population must have the certainty that necessary actions are taken to preserve the health of all, but their participation in compliance of the guidelines issued by the health system is essential, as well as taking the measures established for this type of disease, including the frequent washing of hands with soap and water and acting with discipline.
He said that we will only overcome the new risk if we work together, while he recalled that while we prepare and face any contingency, the other areas of the economy and development of our province cannot be neglected.
