Holguin implements preventive measures to fight the COVID-19 coronavirus

The health system in the province of Holguin has already prepared its first two specialized medical centers as part of the measures included in the national plan for the prevention and confrontation of the new coronavirus- COVID-19, which appeared in China at the end of 2019 and is present now in more than 100 countries around the world.
Both facilities, one for tourists and the other for the population of Holguin, have 170 beds that will be used in cases of isolation of those people who show signs of infection of the disease, said Katia Maria Ochoa Aguilera, provincial director of Health in a videoconference meeting of the different organizations to establish the preventive actions aimed at fighting the new virus.
Ochoa explained that so far not cases of coronavirus have been reported in Cuba, but in Holguin the measures are implemented both sanitary and of the logistics needed to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
These measures include health hearings in the different communities and the training programs for health workers, as well as the assurance of the means of transport to transfer the suspect and confirmed patients to the specialized medical centers.
Ochoa specified the sanitation actions to be maintained in health care centers, schools and places where there are greater agglomerations of people, using chlorine and sodium hypochlorite properly as basic disinfectants means, taking into account the degree of sensitivity of the virus to these components.
The preventive plan also includes the monitoring and control of the entry into the territory of tourists or natives returning from work missions or working abroad through contracts with mixed companies.
She also referred to the work carried out by different companies in support of the program of production of natural and traditional medicine, as well as the manufacturing of more than 90 thousand masks by the provincial company Yamarex. / ACN
