Holguín Boosts Investment Program in Public Health

The Ministry of Public Health of Cuba has allocated a budget of more than one million 850 thousand pesos to Holguín province for the completion of four main objects of work in two provincial hospitals undergoing a process of expansion and improvement of capacities and infrastructure.
The V.I. Lenin university hospital and the surgical hospital Lucía Íñiguez Ladín benefit from the program, with the construction of the ward for febrile patients and the area destined to the Geriatrics service.
Construction works also include the hospitalization room 5th A and the Intermediate Therapy Unit of the Lenin hospital, as well as the replacement of the electrical system.
Yunitza Almaguer Gómez, head of Maintenance at the Provincial Health Directorate, said that parallel to this program there is a comprehensive maintenance and repairs plan of approximately 14 million pesos for the improvement in health care centers of most of the 14 municipalities of Holguín.
The program includes 12 medical offices, nine work objects in hospitals, two polyclinics, the Provincial Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the center for the attention to patients with HIV, four homes for the elderly and several grandparent homes, among others.
Each year the public health sector is allocated millionaire amounts to continue the constructive program of its centers, in order to improve the health services.
