Holguín Highlights Benefits of Heberferón

Photos: By the authorThe highly effective Cuban medicine, Herberferón, for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma of the skin extends to Primary and Secondary Health Care throughout the country.
The province of Holguín, a pioneer in the use of the product, is distinguished by the expansion of the drug in polyclinics and hospitals thanks to the systematic training of specialists and nurses.
In this regard, the eastern province held a theoretical and practical training course with the participation of dermatologists, residents of the specialty, maxillofacials, professors of Medical Sciences, ophthalmologists, oncologists, family doctors, as well as executives of the provincial health directorate and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
The medical staff of the northeastern province has valued the benefits of the medicine and assumes with high responsibility its use. Now the main emphasis is on Primary Health Care to bring the drug closer to the Holguín population, which shows high incidence of skin cancer.
The provincial hospitals Vladimir Ilich Lenin and Lucía Iñiguez, as well as polyclinics in 7 municipalities are currently performing treatment in patients with this disease.
In 2017, a total of 60 patients were treated in the territory while at the end of September this year the figure rose to 132 patients who benefited from the treatment.
Among the therapeutic potentialities of the Heberferón are: it avoids complex surgeries and mutilations in areas of high risk such as nose and ears, manages to heal the lesions with good healing and aesthetics, in a high percentage or at least reduces the tumor mass favoring the result of the surgery, the therapeutic response is rapid.
The Cuban medicine is produced by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and is the only one of its kind in the world.
