The first phase of the 64th National Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign in Cuba - 2025 will take place from April 21 to 26, when children over one month old and under three years of age will receive a dose of the vaccine.

Children in this group who cannot receive the polio vaccine on those days due to illness or other reasons will have a week of recovery time, between April 28 and May 3.

In the second phase of this campaign, scheduled for June 16 to 21, these children will receive a second dose, while nine-year-old children will be re-vaccinated.

Likewise, these children will also have recovery days, from June 23rd to 28th, to prevent a single child from being left unprotected against the disease, which before the triumph of the Revolution, left many Cubans disabled.

The vaccine will not be given to immunocompromised individuals, and it will not be given to children who have a temperature of 38, vomiting or diarrhea at the time of vaccination.

Cuba is a polio-free territory four months after the vaccination campaign began in 1962, a date since which this campaign has been carried out to maintain the eradication of the disease in the country.

The first phase of the campaign nationwide coincides with the 23rd Vaccination Week in the Americas and the 14th World Immunization Week.
