Health specialist warn about sanitary- hygiene measures in Holguín

After the passage of the meteorological phenomena Oscar, the correct food preparation and water purification are some of the hygienic-sanitary measures to be kept in mind by the population to avoid diseases.
Doctor María Eugenia Escobar, second degree specialist in Hygiene and Epidemiology, commented that after so many hours without electricity, food can deteriorate even if it is well cooked, because some germs resist high temperatures, in the same way there are products that tend to become contaminated, therefore it is necessary to increase precautionary actions.
Regarding drinking water, the specialist added that for every liter of water four drops of one percent sodium hypochlorite should be added, and wait thirty minutes before consume it.
Leptospirosis is a disease that can be carried by some mammals, it is transmitted through urine, after rain it can reach rivers or dams and infect people through a small lesion in the skin or the mucosa of the mouth.
Escobar warned that this disease causes a fever similar to dengue fever, so any health risk situation should be avoided, as it can cause death.
The specialist stressed the presence of arboviruses in the province, which when transmitted by mosquitoes, it increases the risk of contagion with the rains. Not offering the conditions that favor the proliferation of this vector is everyone's responsibility.
