The Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed by its Spanish acronym) granted the Conditional Sanitary Registration to Nasalferon, a nasal application solution for the prophylaxis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, the virus that causes COVID-19.

The Conditional Health Registration is a sanitary authorization issued by Cecmed for drugs and biological products in the research stage, which is based on the positive results of their clinical studies of human pharmacology and therapeutic exploration, and is conditioned to the presentation of the results of the confirmation studies.

In January 2021 Nasalferon received an authorization for emergency use, and has since been used for preventive and therapeutic treatment in nursing homes, Henry Reeve Contingent brigades, international travelers, home admissions, and generally in COVID-19 positive patients. (Source: ACN)
