The neonatology services of the maternity hospitals in the municipalities of Moa, Mayarí, Banes and Holguín received INFANTIX equipment from CNEURO for the screening and diagnosis of hearing and visual loss in the child population, through the MediCuba-Switzerland cooperation.

This donation is part of the activities corresponding to the Cochlear Implant project, being developed in four provinces of the country, including Holguín, as well as Havana, Villa Clara, and Santiago de Cuba.

In her Facebook profile, Dr. Osmara Delgado Sánchez, specialist in charge of the Care Programs for people with disabilities at the Minsap, pointed out that both the transfer of the new technology, as well as the preparation and the task to be fulfilled were well received in this territory, specifically by the professionals on whom the responsibility of undertaking the task will rest.

According to experts, neonatal hearing screening is one of the techniques used to make the early and timely diagnosis of hearing loss, while allowing the prevention and control, in a timely manner, of situations that could affect hearing health.

” This transfer of equipment is carried out in Holguín within the framework of the First Clinical, functional and social Evaluation of people with disabilities that has been underway here since last week, which aims to know the level of functionality of the people in situations of disability, how they are organized, the benefits designed for them and the preparation of health personnel and other support organizations.

The study is directed by experts from Minsap with the cooperation of professionals from Holguín in 25 clinical sites enabled in primary health care and in other school and work institutions in the municipalities of Gibara and the head city, chosen to develop this activity.
