The local productions of the natural and traditional medicine laboratory of the municipality of Banes, belonging to the province of Holguín, constitute an alternative to the deficit of raw materials in the country for the manufacture of drugs.
Syrups obtained from plants such as oregano, aloe vera and onion, indicated as therapeutic options for patients with respiratory diseases, stand out among the main medicines produced in the center.
These products are marketed in the territory's pharmacy network and are widely demanded by the population.
According to the Provincial Company of Pharmacies and Optics (FARMOX) in Holguín, the 100-gram sunflower oil soap and syrups such as onion and oregano are among the most demanded products.
Other widely accepted, although with less presence in pharmacies, are propolis mixtures, venatón drops; nasal and sublingual drops such as Aliviho asthma and indigestion, Prevengho-dengue and nutritional supplements.
Traditional medicine was approved by the World Health Organization in the 20th century and there are currently more than 182 families of plants used in this industry, which extends to other modalities such as acupuncture, apitherapy and ozone therapy, widely spread in Cuba through primary health care, specifies the digital portal of that sector.
