To avoid COVID-19, a concern for health authorities in Holguín

Although specialists clarify that the currently circulating variants are descendants of Ómicron, the patients present mild symptoms; however, it is essential to comply with preventive measures, specifically in the most vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, pregnant women, postpartum women, and patients with comorbidities.
Despite Holguín is not facing an appreciable increase in positives (In the last 14 days this easten province has only accumulated 18 cases, of which 17 are autochthonous), the measures adopted to prevent the transmission of the virus cannot be neglected.
On the other hand, among the main strategies adopted by the Ministry of Public Health, apart from the increase in epidemiological surveillance at the borders, is the administration of the third booster dose with Cuban vaccines to pregnant women in the last trimester of pregnancy who six months before received their last vaccination, as well as puerperal women.
Dr. Yanelis Calviño, an official from the Provincial Directorate of Public Health, pointed out that nothing better than prevention, based on the actions guided by the Cuban health system and, fundamentally , vaccination, to avoid serious forms of the disease, which is duly demonstrated in Cuba and other countries where Cuban immunogens are used today.
