The two medical oxygen plants located in the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Teaching University Hospital in the city of Holguín, were inaugurated this Tuesday as part of the investments carried out by the public health sector.
Yuritza Almaguer González, an official of this branch, told ACN that the equipment, donated by the People's Republic of China, will process oxygen from the air, converting it for use in caring for patients with respiratory conditions.
She added that modern technology will support the increase in capacities in intensive care services and will make it possible to fill the cylinders, even when there are no wall outlets used for that purpose.
The installation of these equipment, she explained, will also provide greater health coverage, in the event of the appearance of contagious viral diseases, such as COVID-19, classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
Three other plants are already installed in the eastern territory; two at the Lucía Íñiguez Landín Surgical Clinic and one at the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital.
The health system also promotes a group of investments in provincial hospitals, aimed at improving the infrastructure of clinical laboratories and rooms that includes the replacement of electrical and sanitary networks, exterior and interior painting, wall repair and bathroom veneers, among others.
To these are added the repair of medical offices, nursing homes, hygiene and epidemiology premises, benefiting vulnerable neighborhoods and mountainous and difficult-to-access areas, among the government priorities in the country. (Source: ACN)
