The three provincial hospitals in Holguín will have, once installed, five medical oxygen plants that began entering the territory last week as part of a donation from the People's Republic of China.
This new technology will be installed in the pediatric hospital Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja, the Lucía Íñiguez Landín clinical-surgical hospital and the Vladimir Ilich Lenin provincial hospital in this eastern city.
Yuritza Almaguer González, head of the maintenance and engineering system section at the Provincial Health Directorate (DPS), said that the first two pieces of equipment received so far in Holguín are already in the Lenin and Lucía Íñiguez hospitals, out of the five planned in total.
When detailing the current state of the investment process by institution, she pointed out that the planned value of the civil works is one million 500 thousand pesos in the Lucía Íñiguez, where the Provincial Construction Company of Holguín (DOMUS) works to facilitate the location of the two plants planned for this hospital, with nearly 500 beds.
The Lenin hospital will also have two oxygen generating plants, whose work has a budget of one million 400 thousand pesos.
On the other hand, only one of this equipment will be installed at the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja pediatric hospital, where it is estimated that in the next few days this construction can be completed, planned for a second level of the structure of the health institution.
For his part, Orlando Díaz, deputy director of the Holguín Center for Clinical Engineering and Electromedicine, assured that once the five modern medicinal oxygen processing plants, using Chinese technology, are operational, they will represent an important strength and confidence for the territory's health system.
