The blockade, genocidal policy anchored in the times of the Cold War, as expressed by Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, began to be rejected today in the General Assembly of the United Nations, gathered in its headquarters in New York.

The Resolution presented by Cuba for the 27th consecutive year, is discussed by representatives of countries and groups of nations, such as the G77 + China, CARICOM, the Islamic Conference or CELAC.

Speaking on behalf of the African Group of countries, the representative of Morocco described the Blockade as an unjustifiable act.

Meanwhile, Samuel Moncada spoke as part of the Venezuelan delegation and condemned the extraterritorial nature of this commercial, economic and financial siege imposed since February 7, 1962.

A representative of CELAC exhorted the US Congress to eliminate the blockade and called the US president to use his powers to weaken the consequences of it.

Each year, since 1992, the world rejects through the Cuban resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, the cruelest of the instruments of pressure imposed by the Empire nowadays.

Voting on the resolution project asking for the blockade to end will take place tomorrow, because instead of facilitating the act of voting, the U.S. State Department looks to delay the process introducing eight amendments, all of them aggressive to Cuba, manipulating the cause of human rights and the UN Objectives of Sustainable Development.
