A program of investments, repair and maintenance works benefits this year the facilities of the health sector in the province of Holguín, as part of the actions to improve services to the population in this branch.
Family doctor offices, hospitals, polyclinics, stomatological clinics, laboratories and specialty admission rooms, among others, are some of the health facilities benefited with the investment project despite the economic crisis generated by COVID-19.
Construction works include waterproofing roofs, painting, replacement of carpentry and plumbing systems, included within the repair plans to improve the comfort of the premises, according to a report by the Directorate of the sector in the territory on maintenance programs in the health areas.
It also highlights the acquisition of technology for three laboratories of the SUMA (Ultra Microanalytic System), located in Moa, the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology and the Lucía Íñiguez Clinical Surgical Hospital of the provincial capital, respectively.
According to the note, these
centers are essential in the control of COVID-19 and are equipped to carry out rapid diagnostic tests, which contribute to the immediate isolation of patients positive to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes this disease.
The investment program of Public Health in the province of Holguín extends to the 14 municipalities of the eastern territory, third with the largest population in Cuba with more than one million inhabitants, and focuses on improving the working conditions and labor infrastructures of their respective centers.
