Holguin Hospital Opens New Services

New assistance and technical services were opened at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin university hospital of Holguin, as part of the ongoing repair and maintenance program for the institution, which this year has more than one million Cuban pesos to fulfill this objective.
 
The new services include an International Medical Attention Room (AMI, by its Spanish acronym), the Emergency Unit of the Territorial Oncology Center and the central sterilization center, with two new machines of 850 liters capacity.

The AMI, located on the sixth floor of the central block of the hospital, has two rooms for the admission of patients with their companions, a bathroom for each one, pantry, medical consultation and nursing station, which are attended by qualified and experienced professionals in this type of service at the hospital, where last year 412,000 Cuban convertible pesos were raised for this purpose.

In the fourth floor was located the central sterilization with two autoclaves of modern technology, maximum protection and proven quality, which will cover several closed services, such as the Mother and Child Care Program, explained Dr. Julio Yamel Verdecia Reyes, general director of the Lenin hospital.

obras lenin 5The Oncology Emergency Unit, medical consultations, observation cubicle, healings department and continuous care room to provide multidisciplinary care with psychologists and nurses to patients and relatives, are also among the new services opened.

Verdecia Reyes said that the "Lenin" has an amount of 1 660 000 pesos to continue with the investment process for the renovation and maintenance of premises, which will soon complete the Department of pathology, the care room for family members of seriously ill patients, the emergency room and the area of external consultation; in addition to the remodeling of the areas where new equipment will be installed, such as a tomograph and mammograph, both for the Oncology Center.
