The photographic exhibition "Fidel, Beyond the Myth," opened to the public at the Provincial Center for Plastic Arts in Holguín, presents 100 images that portray key moments in the life of Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
Curated by Roxana de La O Sánchez and Bertha Beltrán, the exhibit offers a chronological journey that connects 20th-century Cuban history with the present.
The exhibit hall houses the photographic work of twenty artists, including Francisco Altuna, Vicente Cubillas, and Osvaldo Salas, who captured with their lenses moments from Fidel's childhood, his student days, his time of struggle, and his tenure as leader and guide of the Revolution.
Each snapshot provides an insight into the personality, leadership, greatness, and actions of a man who transcended human boundaries to become part of our memory, said Víctor Aguilera Nonell, vice president of the Union of Cuban Historians in Holguín.
He added that photography is essential to understanding the past from the perspective of the authors. In the case of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel is one of the most photographed figures in history, and noted the large number of existing images of the leader.
The inauguration was attended by important local political figures, and the exhibition will remain open until August 2026 in tribute to the centenary of Fidel Castro's birth. (Source: ACN)
