Holguín lives tense epidemiological situation due to high Covid-19 transmission

"The high transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Holguín may decrease, from achieving a reduction in the movement of people in the streets and only have the necessary transportation means traveling, so the cooperation of all is essential," said the Dr. Katia María Ochoa, director of Health in the eastern territory.
Dr. Ochoa said that the Fermín Valdés Domínguez military hospital and Lucía Íñiguez Landín surgical hospital are preserved for high-risk patients, therefore the classification of people must be rigorous, according to the hospitalization strategy designed in the province, which provides for the confirmed and suspected categories of high and low risks; as well as in surveillance and isolation for positive contacts in centers authorized to care for these cases.
She explained that the situation is tense due to the increase in the number of confirmed cases admitted (257), suspects (454) and contacts of confirmed (2 thousand 83) in isolation centers, which has led to the reorganization of the health system to attend to each of these cases prioritized.
The province has accumulated 21 deaths from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as a total of cases amounting to 4,637, of which 759 correspond to the first 15 days of June, another month with a high number of positivity.
On Wednesday, the territory confirmed another 62 people active in SARS-CoV-2, including 52 with autochthonous transmission and 10 travelers from Russia, from the municipalities of Holguín and "Rafael Freyre”.
Of the 52 autochthonous, there were 11 without a specified source of infection, which makes it difficult to cut transmission, as a total of 133 accumulated in the last 15 days, mainly in the municipalities of Holguín, the one with the greatest problems in the province, followed by Gibara “Rafael Freyre ”, Cueto and Mayarí.
