The second stage of the 59th National Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign will be underway throughout Cuba from November 23 to 28, whose development on the scheduled date had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Holguín, 31 thousand 237 children under three years of age will receive a second dose.
Dr. Clara Fernández, head of the Immunization Program at the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, said that the oral vaccine will be reactivated in 11,590 nine-year-olds, scheduled to be immunized in April, regardless of whether they have met the 10 in this period.
In order to guarantee good safe vaccination practices, the corresponding measures are adopted in each territory, aimed at certifying the storage, distribution and preservation of the vaccine.
The specialist explained that the vaccine will not be administered to children with a temperature of 38 ͦ C or higher, vomiting or diarrhea and they should always wait 30 minutes before and after the vaccination to eat or drink water.
