Anti-Flu vaccination campaign underway in Holguín

The vaccination campaign against Seasonal Influenza in the Southern Hemisphere began in October in the province of Holguín, aimed at the most vulnerable groups or at risk of suffering from this serious disease.
Dr. Rosa María Estéfano Rodríguez, head of the Respiratory and Tuberculosis Program at the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, explained that the vaccine is administered in the health areas of each municipality to infants aged six months to one year old; 11 months and 29 days, to which two doses of 0.25 ml will be applied with an interval of four weeks between one and the other; asthmatic children from 2 to 5 years old and the adult population aged 85 years and over.
People from nursing homes, psycho-pedagogical centers, pregnant women, patients with chronic renal failure and chronic psychiatric admitted, asthmatics and diabetics between the ages of 19 to 24 years, as well as workers involved in the poultry and livestock activity with exposure to influenza risk, will be administered the vaccine.
In the same way, children over six years of age with infantile cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis are included. The vaccine will be reactivated for technical and professional personnel exposed in the diagnosis.
She stressed that in these times of complex epidemiological situation and the new regulations imposed by COVID-19, it is a guarantee to protect vulnerable groups against flu or influenza with this immunogen that complies with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
