Larga Distancia (Long distance), the recent film made by the youth Cuban film producer Esteban Insausti, will be commercialized soon in the United Stated and Canada, announced the producer.
The movie, premiered with exclusive character during the New York Festival Film Society at the Lincoln Center (New Directors), the oldest held in that city, will be distributed in North America through a program of the New York Museum of Modern Art to promote the work of young and talented film producers of the region.
The only antecedent of a similar case since 1959, was " Fresa y Chocolate", a movie made by the mater of Cuban cinema Tomás Gutiérrez Alea (Titón) and Juan Carlos Tabío.
In statements to the press made today at the cultural center Fresa y Chocolate, Insausti inform that "Larga distancia" had six function, to a full theater, in the Lincoln Center.
He also added that it was also acclaimed during its tour through several American top universities with demanding audiences such as Harvard Film Institute, Yale University, Chicago University and the oldest one, The College of William and Mary.
Insausti indicated that it was completely made in the island, with an extremely low budget and that recently it received the special premium of the jury at the New England Festival Iberian American Cinema, in United Stated.
The festival was chaired over by Mariza Fernández Armenteros, producer of Midnight Paris, the last picture made by Woody Allen, and of La Piel que habito, a movie made by the Spanish Pedro Almodóvar.
The film producer underlined the solid work of the group of technicians and artists, among which are Alain Ortiz in art direction,
Alejandro Pérez Gómez in photography, Dennis Valle in general production, Angelica Salvador in the edition and the script was made by the own director.
The music of the movie is made by X Alfonso, the soundtrack by Osmany Olivares and the cast includes both new and established figures such as Verónica Lynn and Coralia Veloz, Tomás Cao, Maylín Gómez, Alexis Díaz de Villegas nad Zulema Clares.
