Contará Holguín con Acuario de peces cubanos

Motivar el cuidado y conservación de las aguas y familiarizar, sobre todo a las futuras generaciones, con los peces endémicos cubanos, tanto dulceacuícolas como marinos, es objetivo del futuro Acuario de la ciudad de esta ciudad.

La instalación, en fase de construcción y montaje de estructuras y peceras, comentó la especialista Belkis Zas Tabares, formará parte de las opciones ofrecidas por el Museo de Historia Natural Carlos de la Torre y Huerta, de la capital provincial.

La muestra enfatizará en especies nacionales amenazadas en su mayoría por la introducción de peces exóticos y la contaminación del medio natural, subrayó Zas.

Agregó la ictióloga, que el fundamental valor de la exposición será potenciar a los peces de agua dulce autóctonos, con representación casi nula en la generalidad de los acuarios del país.

Resultado de más de cinco años de investigaciones, el acuario funcionará con un sistema de filtración biológica diseñado para reponer el agua de forma parcial solamente una vez al año, lo cual abaratará el costo de mantenimiento.

Los peces cubanos, entre ellos los dulceacuícolas, aseveró, resultan los grandes desconocidos por la población de la Isla y ocuparán buena parte de las 10 peceras de exposición.

El resto será dedicado a representaciones de los peces de los arrecifes coralinos, a partir de la experiencia en materia de acuarofilia marina, es decir el cuidado y mantenimiento de pequeños ecosistemas marinos distantes del mar, vertiente en la que trabajan con éxito hace años.

Ramón Marrero Carballido, también especialista, apuntó que como parte de la labor social de la institución, prevén ofrecer servicios de Terapia Grupal con peces, para niños con trastornos de conducta, embarazadas, enfermos psiquiátricos, ancianos y otros segmentos de la población.

Conciben, además, contar con una biblioteca especializada para la actualización de los interesados sobre características de las diferentes especies y métodos de cría prioritariamente.

Jorge Fuentes Claro, fundador de la agrupación provincial de Piscicultura, afirmó que con este proyecto se desarrollará aún más la actividad cultural-recreativa en el territorio. /AIN
