The short film “Confinamiento”, by the Holguín filmmaker Jimmy Ochoa, is part of the contest "inAcción!" Microcinema in isolation, convened by the Gibara International Film Festival (FIC Gibara), which will take place on September 25 and 26 through its Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
This is a contest designed for works that narrate stories that occurred or were imagined during the various phases of the pandemic, “the stories and paradigm changes raised are not only a reflection of the present, but will be important guidelines for understanding and face the future ”, as reported in the official call.

The short film, produced by Audiovisuales La Loma with the collaboration of students from the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) of Holguín, recreates the theme of violence against women from a gender perspective, explained its director to local newspaper !ahora!

“Confinamiento” was filmed in June and has been registered in events such as the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana and the International Film Festival of Mar del Plata in Argentina. The photography was in charge of Rodolfo Ramírez (Fito) and Anabel Ramírez in the production, Ochoa explained.

La Loma, Ochoa explained, is an audiovisual production company that arises from the new provisions that promote the formation of independent creative teams and aims to develop that edge in Holguín with an aesthetic attached to the foundations of cinema.
According to a press release published on Monday, September 14 on the FIC Gibara official website, the Festival Organizing Committee has chosen 23 of the 86 works presented from countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Germany, Holland and Cuba.
The call for the contest was announced in May, with the aim of keeping the Festival alive, because due to the health contingency facing the world the event was postponed at its usual headquarters in the coastal town of Gibara, in the province of Holguín.
