Holguín Theater to welcome Opera Street Company

The Eddy Suñol theater in the city of Holguín will host this weekend the presentation of the prestigious Ópera de la calle (Opera Street Company) led by the baritone Ulises Aquino, which will offer to the public the show “1959”.
According to Aquino, the work, premiered in the Cuban capital in 2012, covers the main national and international genres that influenced the formation of the Cuban musical identity from 1959 to the present.
"It is made up of postcards representing certain universes, while speaking it is not necessary because dramatically the presence of the artists expresses the discourse that I want to use in musical history," he said.
The staging of "1959" in the Raúl Camayd main hall of the theater will become a great event for Holguín, as this territory has a strong tradition in the lyric theater, with a demanding and knowledgeable audience of the genre.
Ópera de la calle was founded in 2006 and does not make an incursion exclusively into the lyrical song, since it mixes authentic Cuban rhythms in order to bring its creations closer to different spheres of society.
The company has performed in countries such as India, Colombia and the United States and has offered concerts such as Lecuona and Havana, along with Enrique Pérez Mesa, maestro Frank Fernández and other renowned personalities of Cuban culture.
The success of the company lies in the possibility of touching the most sensitive fiber of the humblest people, and in this regard he highlighted the work carried out with children, as they offer workshops and present themselves in almost all activities planned for children in Havana, Aquino said.
