The Provincial Center for Visual Arts (CPAP) in the city Holguín today celebrates its 35th anniversary, commemorating its history of championing contemporary visual art and Cuban culture.

The activities will begin in the Sala Pequeña (Small Room) with the discussion “35 Years of Movement,” led by specialists Martín Garrido, Bertha Beltrán, and Ana Castro. This discussion will explore the institution's history through a dialogue between those who create and those who reflect on the works.

The program will continue with the presentation of the documentary Remolinos, which captures the experience of the artists and directors of the CPAP at the Holguín branch of the University of the Arts, sharing with the students of the Faculty of Audiovisual Media.

The Temporary Gallery will host an exhibition featuring the work of Cosme Proenza Almaguer, commemorating his outstanding contributions to the visual arts in Cuba and around the world, and his close relationship with the Holguín institution.

For its part, the exhibition “A Chair on Display,” by proffessors and students from El Alba Regional Academy of Visual Arts will highlight the connection between specialists and students, as well as the discipline, creativity, and talent cultivated in Holguín's classrooms.

Other related activities will take place throughout the day, including a second installment of the “To the Beat of Jazz” series, featuring artists creating works inspired by the posters of the 41st International Jazz Plaza Festival, and children's areas in conjunction with the “Magic of Dreams” project.

Since 1991, the Holguín Provincial Center for Visual Arts has been the space for the development of visual creation in the city, standing out in the exhibition, defense and promotion of both young and established artists of Cuban culture.
