The 15th edition of the Jibarama Environmental Film Festival takes place from today until June 7 in Gibara, dedicated on this occasion to the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Speleological Society of Cuba.
Convened by the Provincial Film Center, the event also commemorates the 40th anniversary of the National Federation of Cuban Film Clubs and the 15th anniversary of the project "Voices of Gibara Audiovisual.".
Organized by the Provincial Film Center and chaired by Adiuska Caldazilla, the festival aims to promote environmental care and protection through the screening of films with an ecological focus.
Works produced since 2020 were accepted, with a selection of 10 documentaries evaluated by a specialized committee.
The jury is composed of renowned figures from Cuban audiovisual and arts fields, who will award the Jibá Prize, a piece created by a visual artist, as well as other awards in various categories.
The program also includes a commercial expo fair, the 4th Science, Technology and Environment Workshop, as well as a parade called "Flight of Style," and concerts by invited artists like Los Beltas, Luis Alberto Góngora, and Mentes Callejeras.
The Jibarama Environmental Film Festival, formerly known as the Cave Film Festival, has been held in the Villa Blanca de los Cangrejos every year since 2008 with the aim of raising awareness about environmental issues. This year's edition will pay special tribute to Cuban filmmaker Humberto Solás. (Source: ACN)
